Our Rotary Projects
Many of our donors are Rotarians, and Rotarians are a caring breed. When one travels to Honduras and sees a need, he or she gets an idea…. and shares it with other Rotarians, and pretty soon the idea becomes reality and good is being done.
The Rotary projects on this page are all developed from ideas germinated and implemented with Honduran Rotarians in Honduras, and funded through their clubs and Rotary Foundation Grants. These are just a small sample of recent projects. There are many, many more, and our impact on education, health and economic development is significant.
Much of the work comes from the passion of our members. If you have a project or an idea that you care about, and is within the scope of our mission statement, please contact us to see if we can help make it a reality. Private funding for Rotary projects can be eligible for tax receipts.

RACHEL servers are loaded with curriculum, learning and teaching materials and digital libraries and are being provided to schools with no internet, computers or libraries. Equipment is provided and teachers are taught innovative pedagogical teaching techniques.
Eight schools near Comayagua Honduras now have RACHEL systems installed, and teachers complete their training in November of 2024. Results are being monitored and learning outcomes will be improved over many years of education.

The program has trained more than 1500 women and youth over 13 years. It consists of a 9-module course plan on how to successfully operate a micro enterprise, including goal setting, financial literacy, marketing and management of time and resources. It provided training in vocational skills such as baking, crafts, preparation of fragrances, beauty shop, barbering and others.
This program was been funded by Rotary Clubs in Castlegar, Nelson, Cranbrook, Grand Forks and Victoria Harbourside, as well as the Rotary Foundation.
Early Childhood Stimulation Program
This program gives children a better start in life by training caregivers in nutrition and child stimulation. Children from 0 to 5 years are provided with health care treatment, disease prevention and assessment of language, motor skills, cognitive abilities and social interaction skills.
Caregivers pass on their knowledge to new parents in their communities. Four projects have now been completed by the Rotary Clubs of Kelowna, BC.
